(NEWTON)  While some portions of our listening area had significant storm damage with the storms that rolled thru early yesterday morning, others not so much – with area rainfall amounts ranging from only a few tenths of an inch to over an inch and a half to two inches in some spots, scattered thunderstorms with winds gusting up to 50 to 60 miles-per-hour did some damage – trees and utility poles were effected, with some regional locations losing electricity, some of which have yet to have their power restored as of this morning – however, authorities report no injuries as a result of the storms from early Sunday morning.

(OLNEY)  In state news today – officials responsible for paying Illinois’ bills say a recent court order regarding money owed for Medicaid bills will eat up 100% of the state’s monthly revenue – therefore new priorities are needed as Illinois nears its third year without a state budget – while payments must be made for debt & pension payments, state worker paychecks, and some school funding, there will not be much money left to pay for items such as domestic violence shelters, some ambulance services, and school buses – however, it could all change if statewide lawmakers can pull things together with a new state budget.
