(OLNEY)  in Major League Baseball last night – the Cardinals out-dueled the Pirates
* the Redbirds held on to defeat Pittsburgh 2-1
* the Cardinals are back at home today for game two of a  three games series against the Pirates

 

(OLNEY)  in High School Baseball yesterday - Olney won a non-LIC game on the road
the Tigers beat Edwards County, 11-0 in five innings as Olney outhit the host Lions, 9 to 1
* Dylan Hires was the winning pitcher giving up no runs and only one hit in five innings
* Landon Pride led Olney at the plate with a home run, a double, and four RBI
* Lucas Harmon had two hits and four RBI
now at 8-6 on the year, the Tigers are back in action this afternoon at Salem

 

(NEWTON)  in High School Baseball yesterday - Newton won an LIC game on the road
the Eagles beat Red Hill, 10-0 as Newton outhit the host Salukis, 8 to 0
* Mitch Jansen was the winning pitcher, allowing no hits, no runs, and striking out five
* Nate Meinhart led Newton at the plate with three doubles and four RBI
* Lucas Geier and John Grunloh each and a hit and two RBI
now at 6-4 overall, 3-1 in the LIC, the Eagles play again today as they host Mattoon

 

(OLNEY)  in High School Softball yesterday - Olney won a non-LIC game on the road
the Lady Tigers beat Edwards County, 6-0 as Olney outhit the Lady Lions,
* Sophia Colclasure was the winning pitcher, allowing no runs, two hits, and striking out six
* Aaliyah Wease was Olney's top hitter with a home run, a double, and two RBI
now at 11-4 on the year, the Lady Tigers are back in action today at Salem

 

(NEWTON)  in High School Softball yesterday - Newton won an LIC game on the road
the Lady Eagles beat Red Hill, 8-5 as Newton outhit the Lady Salukis, 8 to 7
* Kristen Hardiek had a home run, a double, and two RBI - Kaitlyn Cohorst also homered
now at 5-4 overall, 3-1 in the LIC, the Lady Eagles are back in action today at Neoga

(NEWTON)  in Boys High School Tennis yesterday - Newton lost a tough match
the Eagles lost to Mattoon, 8-1
Newton's lone victory came in the singles competition
* Dylan Ochs won the #5 singles match in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 10-4
the Tennis Eagles are back in action this Friday at Flora

 

(OLNEY)  in Junior Varsity Baseball yesterday - Olney wins again on the road
the JV Tigers beat Mt. Carmel, 12-1 as Olney outhit the host Golden Aces, 9 to 5
* Trevor Zuber was the winning pitcher, allowing only two hits and striking out three
* Gavin Mays led Olney with a home run, a double, a single, and two RBI
now at 9-1, the JV Tigers are back in action today traveling to Carmi

 

(OLNEY)  in Junior Varsity Softball yesterday - Olney wins a close one on the road
the JV Lady Tigers beat Edwards County,1-0 as Olney outhit the Lady Lions, 2 to 1
* Aubrey Page was the winning pitcher, allowing no runs, one hit, and striking out one
* Page also led Olney with one hit and the game's only RBI
the JV Lady Tigers are back in action today traveling up to Newton

 

(NEWTON)  the Nick Volk Girls Fresh/Soph Invitational Track Meet was yesterday in Newton
* the host Lady Eagles won by beating out 2nd place Teutopolis, 140 to 129
* Robinson was 3rd with 100 points, followed by Paris (96) and Olney (76)
Newton won five of the eighteen events with six 2nd place finishes
* Claire Carr won both the 400 meter dash and the long jump
* Brooklyn Herman won the 100 meter dash
* Abby Stone won the 800 meter run
* Mikaela Haarman, Liz Volk, Claire Carr, and Abby Stone won the 4x100 meter relay
* Mikaela Haarman was 2nd in the 200 meter dash
* Liz Volk was 2nd in the 100 meter hurdles
* Mikaela Haarman, Mallory Bergbower, Katie Hartke, and Tori Zumbahlen were 2nd in the 4x200 meter relay
* Tori Zumbahlen, Riley Zumbahlen, Claire Carr, and Abby Stone were 2nd in the 4x400 meter relay
* Jacklyn Barthelme, Brooklyn Herman, Sydney Rudolphi, & Tori Zumbahlen were 2nd in the 3200 meter relay
* Katie Hartke was 2nd in the discus throw
Olney won one of the eighteen events, with two 2nd places and five 3rd places
* Tara Hughes won the high jump
* Leah Snyder was 2nd in the shot put
* Danni Murphy was 2nd in the high jump and 3rd in the 400 meter dash
* Tristen Payne, Carmen Rodriguez, Chelsea Ochs, and Tara Hughes were 3rd in the 4x200 meter relay
* Danni Murphy, Carmen Rodriguez, Chelsea Ochs, and Tara Hughes were 3rd in the 4x100 meter relay
* Gracie Julian was 3rd in the 3200 meter run
* Chelsea Ochs was 3rd in the 200 meter dash and 3rd in the 100 meter dash

 

(NEWTON)  the Nick Volk Boys Fresh/Soph Invitational Track Meet was yesterday in Newton
* Paris won the seven-team meet by beating 2nd place Mattoon, 154 to 131
* the host Eagles were 3rd with 87 points, followed by Robinson (64) and Olney (59)
* Effingham finished in 6th place with 35 points and Teutopolis was 7th with 16
Newton won one of the eighteen events with three 2nd place finishes
* Hunter Gray won the 200 meter dash
* Jerald Eckl, Adam Bridges, Hunter Gray, and Cole Farley were 2nd in the 4x200 meter relay
* Jerald Eckl, Adam Bridges, Tyler Marble, and Hunter Gray were 2nd in the 4x100 meter relay
* Hunter Gray was 2nd in the 100 meter dash
Olney had four 2nd place finishes and two 3rd places
* Owen Powell was 2nd in the 800 meter run
* Payton Blanton was 2nd in the 110 meter hurdles
* Jordan Duenas was 2nd in the high jump
* Sutton Dunn was 2nd in the triple jump
* Caleb Thomas was 3rd in the 3200 meter run
* Brady Thompson was 3rd in the 1600 meter run
