(OLNEY)  in Men’s Division One College Basketball Saturday – Illinois lost on the road
the Fighting Illini lost their fourth straight Big Ten game, falling to Michigan, 69-79
* Illinois falls to 10-7 on the year, still winless in the league, at 0-4
the Illini are back in conference action this coming Thursday night as they’ll host Iowa
it’s a 7:00 tipoff between Illinois and the Hawkeyes at the State Farm Center in Champaign

 

(OLNEY)  in Men’s Junior College Basketball Saturday – Olney Central College won at home
the Blue Knights came out of a 35-35 tie at halftime to beat Elizabethtown Tech, 93-74
* Josiah Wallace had a career high 39 points, the freshman’s tenth time in double digits this season
* Cooper Bybee hit four 3-pointers for 12 points, plus Tyler Witz and Anfernee King added 11 and 10
the Blue Knights improve to 10-3 on the year, remain at 3-2 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference
Olney Central College returns to GRAC action this Wednesday night when they host John A. Logan

 

(OLNEY)  in Women’s Junior College Hoops Saturday – Olney Central College lost on the road
the Lady Knights dropped a non-conference and non-district game at Parkland College, 59-68
* Mallory Smith led OCC with 16 points while Hannah Coleman added 12
the Lady Knights fall back to 9-5 on the year, but remain at 4-1 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference
* tonight’s scheduled game at Millikin University has been cancelled by the host team
the OCC Ladies return to GRAC action this Wednesday night when they'll host John A. Logan

in one game involving a GRAC team played yesterday
* John A. Logan beat West Kentucky Tech, 126-80

(OLNEY)  in Boys High School Wrestling – the Murdale Invitational Meet ended Saturday in Carbondale
Cahokia won the 24-team event by beating out 2nd place Belleville Althoff, 221 to 190
* Glenwood finished 3rd (158.5) followed by Mt. Zion (118.50) and Carbondale (111)
* Olney was 6th (106.5), then Civic Memorial (98), Marion (97), Lincoln (90.5), and Murphysboro (90)
* East St. Louis Senior was 11th, followed by Effingham, Fairfield, West Frankfort, and Highland
* then Harrisburg, Anna-Jonesboro, Sparta, Benton, Mt. Vernon, Herrin, Carterville, Centralia, & Goreville

(OLNEY)  in Boys High School Basketball Saturday – Olney lost on the road in Effingham
the Tigers fell at the St. Anthony Shootout as they fell to the host Bulldogs, 43-69
* for Olney, Dakotah Brown had 16 points and Connor Zuber hit three 3-pointers for 9 points
the host Bulldogs with their best game of the year so far, shooting over 60% from the field
now at 7-10 on the year, the Tigers are back in LIC conference action Friday night at Flora

 

(NEWTON)  in Boys High School Basketball Saturday – Newton won on the road in Effingham
the Eagles won at the St. Anthony Shootout as they beat Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 62-55
* Newton was led by Nick Cohorst and Zach Jansen each with 17 points – Ben Carr added 11 points
now at 12-4, the Eagles are back in non-conference action tomorrow night at Hutsonville-Palestine

 

(OLNEY)  in Girls High School Basketball Saturday – Olney lost a pair of tough games at Salem
the Lady Tigers wasted an 18-point lead and lost at Salem in overtime, 63-64
* Olney’s Julie Luna led all scorers with 34 points – Taylor LeCrone and Brittany Black combined for 20
Salem won the junior varsity game, 51-40
at 14-4, Olney returns to LIC action tonight when they host Casey-Westfield with a varsity 6:15 start

the 8th grade Junior Eagles lost to Paris Mayo, 26-38 as the varsity record is now 8-8 on the year
* Adam Koebele led Newton with 8 points – Ben Meinhart and Evan Schafer had 7 points apiece
the 7th grade Junior Eagles lost to Marshall, 20-43 as the junior varsity record falls to 6-12
the Jasper County boys are back in action this Friday when they host Robinson in Newton

 

(OLNEY)  in Girls Junior Pro 6th Grade Basketball Saturday – Olney won two games
Olney won the A game over Vincennes Clark, 37-22
* Rylee Bloomer and Danielle Brown each scored 11 points
Olney won the B game over Vincennes Clark, 24-17
the Olney 6th Grade Girls are back in action tomorrow night at home against Red Hill at 6:00
