the Cardinals lost a tough one-run game to the Cubs, 2-1
* others that lost  :  White Sox, Brewers, and Rangers
* those that won  :  Tigers, Indians, and Astros
the Cardinals will finish their series with the Cubs in St. Louis this afternoon

 

(OLNEY)  in Junior College Baseball yesterday – Olney Central College won a single GRAC game
* the Blue Knights beat Shawnee Community College, 3-1
at 27-4 overall, now 10-0 in the GRAC, OCC is scheduled to host Vincennes University today

 

(OLNEY)  in Junior College Softball yesterday – OCC dropped a GRAC doubleheader at home
* the Lady Knights lost to Wabash Valley, 6-2 and 15-0
at 15-11 overall, now 5-9 in the GRAC, OCC is scheduled for two at Kaskaskia College today

 

(OLNEY)  in Boys High School Tennis yesterday – Olney won on their home courts
the Tigers defeated Newton, 8-1
Olney won all six of the singles matches
* Connor Walker won the #1 single match in two sets
* Austin Atwood won the #2 singles match in two sets
* Tanner Hendrickson won the #3 singles match in two sets
* Jack Bettis won the #4 singles match in two sets
* Kye Stallard won the #5 singles match in three sets
* Adam Brewer won the #6 singles match in two sets
Olney took two of the three doubles matches
* Connor Walker and Tanner Hendrickson won the #1 doubles match in two sets
* Jack Bettis and Kye Stallard won the #2 doubles match in two sets
Newton’s Dylan Ochs and Zach Dust won the #3 doubles match in two sets
at 2-0 overall, now 1-0 in the LIC, Olney is scheduled to host Mattoon tomorrow

(OLNEY)  in Girls High School Soccer yesterday – Olney lost a tough match on the road south
the Lady Tigers fell to Harrisburg, 7-1
* Olney’s lone goal was scored by Stephanie Shan with the assist from Faith Stallard
* Olney’s Allison Herman had a very good match at defense
the Lady Tigers are scheduled to play at Herrin High School tomorrow

 

(OLNEY) in High School Baseball yesterday – Olney lost a tough 2-run game at home
the Tigers fell to Teutopolis, 4-2 as Olney and the visiting Wooden Shoes each had 7 hits
* Luke Lambird led Olney with a double, two singles, and a run scored
* Jake Griefzu doubled and scored – Lucas Harmon, Braxton Burgener, & Landon Pride all singled
now at 4-4, the Tigers are scheduled to begin conference action at home tomorrow against Red Hill

 

(NEWTON)  in High School Baseball yesterday – Newton lost a tough 3-run game on the road
the Eagles lost to North Clay, 6-3 as Newton and the host Cardinals each had 9 hits
* John Grunloh led Newton with 2 hits and an RBI – Mitch Bierman also had a 2 hit day
* Nate Meinhart, Mitch Jansen, and Connor Bierman all singled and scored a run
now at 2-3, the Eagles are scheduled to begin LIC action at home tomorrow against Casey-Westfield

* both the Cardinals & Cubs were idle on Monday – they’re back at it tonight in St. Louis

 

(OLNEY)  in Junior College Baseball yesterday – Olney Central College was rained out
the Blue Knights had their non-GRAC doubleheader postponed against Lindenwood Belleville U
* OCC remains at 26-4 on the year, still undefeated in the GRAC at 9-0
the Blue Knights are scheduled to play a GRAC doubleheader today at Shawnee Community College

the Lady Knights had their games at John A. Logan postponed
* the OCC women are 15-9 on the year, 5-7 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference
the Lady Knights are scheduled for a GRAC doubleheader today at home against Wabash Valley

 

(OLNEY)  in High School Softball and Baseball – most all games were rained out yesterday
that included all the Olney and Newton teams, both on the road and at home
yesterday’s track meet at Olney for five area girls teams was also called off due to rain

 

(OLNEY) in High School Baseball yesterday – the Junior Varsity Tigers were in action and won
Olney beat Fairfield’s JV, 7-1 as the JV Tigers outhit the visiting Mules, 4 to 3
* Reid Doll was the winning pitcher, allowing no runs and one hit with four strikeouts in 4 innings
* Trevor Zuber led Olney at the plate with two hits, two runs scored, and one RBI
* Isaac Pampe and Isaac Bradley had the other hits – Kaleb Foster and Seth Ingram each had an RBI
the JV Tigers are back in action tomorrow as they travel south to Edwards County

with the season-opening series in St. Louis taking off today, game two is tomorrow night

 

(OLNEY)  in Junior College Baseball over the weekend – OCC swept three GRAC games
on Saturday, the Blue Knights beat Lake Land in a single game on Conley Field, 10-1
yesterday, the Blue Knights swept two at Lake Land, 6-0 and 3-1
* OCC improves now to 26-4 on the year, still undefeated in the GRAC at 9-0
the Blue Knights are scheduled to host Lindenwood Belleville University with two games today

the Lady Knights lost to Southwestern Illinois, 3-1 then beat the Blue Storm, 14-7

* Sophia Colclasure was Olney’s winning pitcher in game one
* Olney’s Kennedy Steber and Jesika Ochs each had an RBI double
* Sophia Colclasure had two hits and one RBI – Aaliyah Wease had a two RBI single

the Tigers beat Cumberland, 5-1 although the visiting Pirates outhit Olney, 3 to 1
* Mason Kocher got the complete game win, allowing 1 earned run and striking out 8 in seven innings
* Dylan Hires had Olney’s only hit, an RBI single in the 3rd inning
now at 4-3, the Tigers are back in action next Monday as they travel to Oblong

 

(OLNEY)  in Junior College Baseball and Softball – the OCC teams return to GRAC action today
the 14-8 Lady Knights play a GRAC doubleheader today at Southwestern Illinois over in Belleville
* the Lady Knights are off tomorrow before another GRAC twinbill Monday against John A. Logan
the 23-4 Blue Knights play a single GRAC game today at OCC against Lake Land on Conley Field
* the Blue Knights will then travel to Lake Land tomorrow for a GRAC doubleheader

the Lady Tigers will host the Lady Knights at the RCHS softball diamond

Rend Lake College is hosting the 39th Annual Lions Club All-Star Basketball Classic tonight
it’s the Girls All-Star Game at 6:00, followed by two Boys All-Star Games at 7:00, each 30 minutes long
* all in the James “Hummer” Waugh Gymnasium with admission at $5 for adults and $3 per child
* a dunk contest, three point shooting contest, and more after the girls game before the boys play
the Girls Gold Team is coached by Centralia’s Roger Stieg with 25 players, including those from
