(NEWTON) in high school baseball yesterday – Newton beat Carmi, 12-4 as the host Eagles out-hit the Bulldogs, 12 to 3 – the top Newton hitters were Cullen Chestnut with three hits & one RBI, Elijah Knepper with two hits & two RBI, and Caleb Chestnut with two hits & two RBI – Newton’s winning pitcher was Clayton Bailey who in relief, threw only two innings, allowing one run on one hit & striking out two – now at 6&4 on the year, the Eagles are back in action Thursday when they’ll host Noble / Clay City in Newton
(OLNEY) in high school softball yesterday – Olney lost to Fairfield, 4-3 as the Lady Mules out-hit the Lady Tigers, 7 to 4 – Elizabeth Walker lost only her third game of the year – the top Olney hitters were Rachel Wisner with a hit & an RBI sacrifice fly and Kenzie Zwilling with an RBI hit – the Olney record is now 9&4 overall – the Lady Tigers return to action tomorrow when they’ll host Noble / Clay City
(NOBLE) in high school softball yesterday – Noble / Clay City beat Cisne, 6-2 – the winning pitcher was Darcie Hawkins, throwing all seven innings, allowing one earned run and striking out four – the Lady Wildcats’ top hitters were Mariah Bennett with two doubles, Darcie Hawkins with two hits, and Katie Royse with a triple – now at 6&2 on the year, Noble / Clay City will host South Central this afternoon
