* the Redbirds beat the Pirates, 2-1 sweeping Pittsburgh out of St. Louis
the Cardinals begin a four game series tonight in Milwaukee, against the Brewers

in Softball  :
* Flora beat Red Hill, 10-0
* Robinson beat Effingham St. Anthony, 3-1
in Baseball  :
* Lawrenceville beat Mt. Carmel, 11-1
* Altamont beat Cowden-Herrick / Beecher City, 10-0

 


                                    LOCAL AND AREA SPORTS REMINDERS

 

(OLNEY)  nearly 150 girls and boys basketball players will converge on the campus of Wabash Valley College this weekend for the Annual Tri-State All-Star games - on Saturday, April 22nd, there will be five junior high games with the girls playing at 10:00 and 11:30 in the morning - the junior high boys' games will be that afternoon at 1:00, 2:30, and 4:00 - then on Sunday, April 23rd, there were be four high school games with players selected from Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky - admission for the All-Star games at the Spencer Sports Center is $5 per person per day
