YESTERDAY’S ILLINOIS CROP PROGRESS REPORT (04/09/2024)

(SPRINGFIELD) In yesterday’s USDA Illinois Crop Progress Report, there were 1.9 days on average last week suitable for fieldwork. The statewide average temperature was 46.0 degrees last week, 1.4 degrees below normal. Illinois’ precipitation averaged 1.96 inches last week, 1.30 inches above normal. Topsoil and subsoil moisture supplies are now both averaging over 60% adequate and over 10% surplus statewide. As of Sunday, corn planted reached 2%, compared to the 5-year average of 1%. Soybeans planted also hit 2%. The winter wheat headed reached 2%, compared to the 5-year average of 1%. The statewide winter wheat condition was rated 13% poor to very poor, 22% fair, 53% good, and 12% excellent.
