MONDAY WEATHER DISCUSSION (06/17/2024)

(OLNEY/NEWTON) As the warm front that lifted across Illinois this past weekend now moves off to the east, a low pressure system to our west/northwest will move into the Midwest with maybe some scattered and very isolated showers and/or thunderstorms slightly possibletoday, tonight, and early tomorrow morning. However, the dome of high pressure anchored off the mid Atlantic Coast will continue to pump hot and humid air on a southerly wind flow into our downstate area for most all of the week ahead. Stay tuned for updates and monitor a NOAA Weather Alert Radio for more weather forecast details.

(LINCOLN/PADUCAH) The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement noting the extended period of hot and humid weather conditions expected for most all of this work week, today through Friday, and even into the upcoming weekend as well. This will affect all of our downstate listening area with daily highs in the 90’s and heat index values around 100 degrees each day. Those working outdoors are reminded to drink plenty of water, wear loose-fitting & light-colored clothing, and take plenty of breaks out of the sunlight or in air-conditioned locations. Let’s use some common sense if outdoors.
