(SPRINGFIELD) Results of the Pro Farmer Crop Tour have amped up the anticipation of the 2024 harvest with record yield projections for corn. Crop scouts sampled about 2,000 fields in Illinois and six other states last week with Illinois’ projected corn yield the highest of all at 204.1 bushels per acre, up 5.4% from last year’s tour. The projected corn yields are also up in Iowa (192.7), Indiana (187.5), and Nebraska (173.2), but below last year’s estimates in Ohio (183.2), Minnesota (164.9), and South Dakota (156.5). Pro Farmer has been conducting the Midwest Crop Tour in Illinois and the other six states for the past 31 years since 1993.
