(OLNEY) The City of Olney Water Department has announced it will be switching the disinfectant in the city’s water distribution system tomorrow, from combined chlorine to free chlorine, a switch that’s made for maintenance purposes, in conjunction with the city’s biannual water hydrant flushing. It’s at this time that Olney water customers may notice a stronger chlorine smell in their water. The Water Department will then be flushing select fire hydrants throughout Olney, starting at 7:00, on Monday morning, September 30th. The City of Olney and the Water Department appreciate the patience of all during this work.
