FOUR EARTHQUAKES SHOOK THE MIDWEST LAST WEEK

(WASHINGTON D.C.) The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting that four earthquakes occurred in our Midwestern region over the past week, one of which was in Illinois. The first was last Thursday (10/31) afternoon when a 2.0 magitude earthquake was recorded near Ullin, Illinois, with the epicenter located almost two miles northeast of the Pulaski County town. Then it was late Saturday (11/2) night that a 3.7 magnitude quake was recorded about two miles east of Steele, Missouri, about 87 miles south/southwest of Cape Girardeu. Then later that night (11/2), within an hour, a 2.1 magitude quake was reported, again near Steele, Missouri. And the final earthquake occurred early this past Monday (11/4) morning, a 1.8 magitude shaker three miles northeast of Ridgely, Tennessee, about 107 miles south of Cape Girardeau. Officials say no injuries or damage occurred as a result of these quakes, although at least two of the earthquakes were felt at least 150 to 200 miles from their sites.
