(OLNEY/NEWTON) The Illinois Eastern Community Colleges will launch a new generation of transfer-focused programs beginning Fall 2026, following formal approval by the IECC Board of Trustees. The newly approved Transfer Pathways represent a major step forward in helping area students move seamlessly from IECC to four-year universities. While each pathway is a clearly structured, 64-credit degree plan, designed to align with university requirements, the program also reduces excess credits & provides students with a clear and intentional route to a bachelor’s degree. Beginning this Fall 2026, IECC students will be able to enroll in 20 newly structured transfer degrees across a wide range of disciplines, some of which include Accounting, Art, Ag Education, Ag Business, Animal Science, Broadcasting, Crop & Soil Science, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Health Professions, Mathematics, Theatre, Music, & many others. While two years of college at an IECC college will cost about $13,400 in tuition, fees, and books, the same two year cost at the University of Illinois can exceed $62,000 when housing & meals are included. That’s a savings of more than $48,000 by using the new Transfer Pathways program at an IECC college. Additional information, including detailed degree maps for each pathway, will be available on the IECC website in the coming months.
