HSHS St. Anthony’s to Host Fifth Annual Youth Adaptive Try-Athlon in Effingham

HSHS St. Anthony’s Physical Rehabilitation and Wellness is inviting young athletes of all abilities to participate in the fifth annual “Meet Me at the Finish Line” Youth Adaptive Try-Athlon on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Workman Sports Complex in Effingham.

This inclusive event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is designed for athletes ages 18 and under with physical, social, or emotional challenges. Each participant is paired with a buddy to complete swimming, biking, and running activities in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Unlike most traditional races, the Youth Adaptive Try-Athlon focuses on participation rather than competition. There are not first, second, or third place winners, and every athlete is celebrated for reaching the finish line!

In addition to the race, local families can enjoy pre-race activities, prizes, snacks, and encouragement from volunteers, family members, friends, and the community.

The fifth annual event will be held at the Workman Sports Complex in Effingham and aims to provide a fun, inclusive experience that builds confidence and celebrates every participant’s accomplishment.

Registration is now open. To register or learn more about the Meet Me at the Finish Line Youth Adaptive Try-Athlon, visit stanthonyshospital.org/try-athlon.

The “Meet Me at the Finish Line” Youth Adaptive Try-Athlon promotes fitness and self-confidence for athletes 18 and under who have mobility and physical challenges. This year’s Try-Athlon will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Workman Sports Complex.
