COUNTY FAIR SEASON HAS BEGAN IN ILLINOIS

(SPRINGFIELD) While some fairgoers may be counting down the days until they can enjoy a corn dog and lemonade shake-up, there are two county fairs underway this week, starting the county fair season in Illinois. Now in its 79th year, the week-long Martinsville Ag Fair continues now through Sunday in neighboring Clark County. The Martinsville fairgrounds includes more than 60 acres with a half-mile horse track, dairy, beef, & sheep barns, a show arena, a 12-acre parking area, and more. Meanwhile, the Greene County Fair in Carrollton begins today and runs through Saturday. Noted as one of the oldest county fairs in Illinois, dating back to 1854, there’s harness racing, tractor pulls, demolition derby, livestock shows, and more.
