IECC BOARD OF TRUSTEES DECEMBER 2024 MEETING RECAP

The Illinois Eastern Community Colleges (IECC) Board of Trustees convened for its December meeting on Tuesday in Olney. Key actions included:

  • Bill Payments: The Board approved the payment of all bills as presented.
  • Tax Levy: The 2024 Tax Levy was approved, with the rates for education and operation & maintenance remaining consistent with 2023 levels.
  • Policy Revisions: The Board approved updates to four District policies, addressing employee background checks for Motor Vehicle Reports, purchasing procedures, vehicle use (both IECC-owned and personal), and IECC-issued credit card usage.
  • Facility Use Agreement: A new agreement was approved with Lawrence County Memorial Hospital for the use of its radiology rooms and equipment.
  • Fiscal Year 2024 Audit: The Board approved the FY2024 audit.
  • Marketing Campaign: The Board agreed to continue with its digital marketing campaign.
  • Van Purchase: A $47,350 bid from Silverthorne Chevrolet GMC in Robinson was approved to purchase a new 12-passenger van.

Personnel Matters:

  • Retirements: The Board accepted retirement notices from Doug Shipman, Director of Business at OCC, effective April 18, 2025, and Rodney Ranes, District Adult Education Program Director, effective March 1, 2025.
  • Resignations: The Board accepted resignations from Paul Bruinsma, District Chief Academic Officer; Caleb Dunn, Maintenance/Groundskeeper at FCC; Sueko Davis, Custodian at LTC; and Holly O’Brien, District Mental Health Specialist.
  • Dismissal: The Board approved the dismissal of Robin Johnson, Business Office Assistant at FCC.
  • Special Assignments: Kelly Payne was approved for a special assignment as Discipline Facilitator for Humanities & Fine Arts.
  • Position Title Changes: The Board approved a change in position titles for Deanna Ratts, Chris Forde, Quianna McGee, Cameron Ireland, and Derek Dunn from Coordinators of Marketing & Public Information to Coordinators of Marketing & Communications.
  • New Hires: Chris Dowds was hired as Maintenance/Groundskeeper at OCC, and Breeanna Elder was hired as Administrative Assistant to the Dean at OCC.
