(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity has released $6 million in funding for the Illinois Returning Residents Clean Jobs Training Program, which provides classroom instruction and hands-on learning opportunities to statewide prisoners, plus it connects graduates once released with potential employers in the clean energy industry and related clean energy sector jobs throughout the state.
(DU QUOIN) The Illinois Department of Agriculture has announced online registration for campers at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds is now open for solar eclipse viewing. While the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds is located within 20 miles of the solar eclipse path of totality occurring on April 8th, the Elipse Weekend package rate is $100 for a four night stay on the fairgrounds. There’s only a narrow path in Illinois of where the sky will be darkened as the moon blocks out the sun. The rest of the country will experience a partial solar eclipse.
(CHICAGO) The Cook County Sheriff’s Office is introducing a new campaign to raise awareness about Illinois’ “red flag” laws, which allows the judicial system to revoke firearm ownership for people who are mentally unstable or accused of domestic abuse. Concerned family members and law enforcement can file an order to remove a gun from an individual. The Sheriff’s Office is sponsoring a new billboard campaign to raise awareness in Chicago.
(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois State Fair has announced the booking of the hard rock band Motley Crue to perform as part of this year’s grandstand lineup on Saturday night, August 10th. It’s the first time for the Los Angeles based band to play in Springfield with tickets to go on sale this Saturday morning at 10:00 on TicketMaster.com.
