(SPRINGFIELD) As the income tax deadline approaches, now less than two weeks away, the Illinois Attorney General’s office has issued guidance to help statewide residents safely file tax returns, plus the office urges taxpayers to exercise caution before providing personally identifying & financial information online. (SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Secretary of State’s office has unveiled the state’s annual organ and tissue donor ad campaign, which encourages statewide residents to sign up for the donor registry. More than 4,000 Illinois residents are currently waiting for a transplant, including many whose lives depend on the availability of a suitable organ. Although there are currently 6.5 million donors registered, it’s estimated that about 300 people on the transplant list die while waiting on a needed organ every year. (SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois State Fair has added another artist to its already star-studded concert lineup for later this summer. Fair officials have announced that the Smashing Pumpkins will headline the grandstand Friday night, August 16th. Since forming in Chicago in 1988, the group has sold over 30 million albums worldwide. Tickets go on sale at 10:00 this Friday morning at TicketMaster.com. Other acts appearing this year include Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert, the Jonas Brothers, and Motley Crew.
