ILLINOIS STATE NEWS BRIEF (04/02/2025)

(SPRINGFIELD) Gun rights advocates in Illinois are asking the U.S. Attorney General to come and review how the state may be violating residents’ Second Amendment rights. Attorney General Pam Bondi was recently quoted saying the Second Amendment is not a second-class right after investigating delays in gun permits being issued in California. She said the U.S. Department of Justice will not stand idly by while states and localities infringe on the Second Amendment rights of ordinary, law-abiding Americans. Several Illinois gun laws, including the state’s ban on certain guns, ammunition magazines, and the Firearm Owner’s Identification card, are all tied up in federal and state litigation.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) It was this past Sunday that Congresswoman Mary Miller of Illinois introduced the Keep Our Girls Safe Act in Washington, D.C. The central Illinois farmer also co-sponsored another bill, the Defining Male and Female Act, which supports another Executive Order issued by President Trump. Serving as Chair of the Congressional Family Caucus, Congresswoman Mary Miller is encouraging Congressional leaders to call both bills to the floor for an immediate vote.
