(SPRINGFIELD) Of the state’s more than 8 million registered voters, nearly 2.4 million cast their ballots early. Data published by the Illinois State Board of Elections yesterday showed nearly 1.3 million mail-in ballots were requested with 833,000 returned as of late last week. More than 1.5 million people have voted early. Statewide polls are open until 7:00 tonight.
(CHICAGO) The Illinois Attorney General’s Office has announced that more than 200 teams of assistant attorneys general and investigators will be monitoring the general election throughout Illinois today through tonight. (SPRINGFIELD) The bar admission ceremonies for the 1,604 new attorneys who passed the July 2024 Bar Exam will be held tomorrow in all five judicial districts of Illinois. The Fifth Judicial District, which includes 47 counties from Champaign to Alton & all areas south, will be held in Carbondale with Court Justice David K. Overstreet swearing-in the 54 candidates. The other ceremonies will be in Springfield, Joliet, Elgin, and Chicago. The ceremonies will bring the total number of licensed attorneys in Illinois to approximately 98,000.
(SPRINGFIELD) USDA Secretary Thomas Vilsack issued a disaster declaration yesterday for three Illinois counties due to losses caused by tornadoes that occurred earlier this year.
Twisters struck Marshall and Putnam counties July 14th and 15th, and also Henry County on July 15th. A secretarial natural disaster designation allows the USDA Farm Service Agency to provide emergency loans to producers recovering from natural disasters and crop damage.
