(SPRINGFIELD) The ribbon has been cut on a first-of-its-kind solar energy program for Ameren Illinois and East St. Louis. Officials say the Illinois Clean & Equitable Jobs Act helped facilitate the project, which created some 120 construction jobs for the region with 3,000 solar panels and batteries designed to story energy for use during peak demand periods, able to power at least 650 homes. A second such project is now in the works.
(SPRINGFIELD) The State of Illinois is looking for a construction management and owner’s advisory team with expertise in correctional facilities. The request for proposals focuses on the infrastructure needs at both the Logan and Stateville Correctional Centers, which the Pritzker administration plans to demolish and replace with new buildings. The overall planned project could costs statewide taxpayers at least $900 million, maybe more.
(SPRINGFIELD) About $24 million in taxpayer funds is being announced for the next phase of the Illinois National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program with around 20 awards expected, building on 37 grants announced back in September. Applications to the Illinois Department of Transportation will be accepted through December 17th. The goal is to provide fast charging EV terminals at least every 50 miles along all interstates in Illinois.
(SPRINGFIELD) A new report reveals Illinois has the third most personal injury lawsuits in the nation. According to injury attorneys with the Bader Scott Firm, which researched court data for the 12 months that ended this past April, about 45,000 cases were filed in Illinois, as many as 13,000 were personal injury and tort actions, making up nearly 30% of the state’s total case load. Only two other state’s had more, Florida and New Jersey.
