The Jasper County Board met last week in Newton for its regular monthly session, addressing a range of county matters:
- Approved February bills totaling $316,476.
- Adopted the Unity Flag with Eagle as the official County Flag, following a recommendation from the county’s Flag Commission.
- Entered into a Technology Managed Service Agreement with Magoo & Associates, effective May 1, 2025.
- Approved a $76,732 bid from Precise Construction Services, Inc. for ADA improvements to the Jasper County Building’s south entrance.
- Clarified that the recently purchased property at 903 Van Buren Street in Newton will be used for storage during the courthouse project and will later serve as the Jasper County Emergency Management Agency’s headquarters.
- Appointed Brian Ochs as Trustee for the Wade Community Fire Protection District.
- Received updates on the Jasper County Health Department building project.
- Reminded residents about this Saturday’s Electronic Recycling Event at the Jasper County Highway Department.
