LOCAL COMMUNITY OUTREACH OPORTUNITES

(Olney) The Immanuel United Methodist Church in Olney and its Outreach Mission is once again preparing and delivering “free” Thanksgiving Day meals to anyone who lives in Richland County. However, the sign up deadline is fast approaching, set for tomorrow (11/15/2023) at 12 noon. To reserve a meal, call the church office at 618-395-8618 from 8:00am – 12;00 noon tomorrow. The meals will then be delivered on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2023.

(Olney) The Richland County Farm bureau is underway with its Share the Warmth Annual Coat Drive, with clean and gently used winter coats, hats, gloves, and scarves accepted now through Tuesday November 28, 2023. No other clothing accepted. The donated items will then be given to multiple locations in the community, including local schools, SWAN, and others in need. Items can be dropped off at the Richland County Farm Bureau Office in Olney weekdays, from 8:30 to 4:00 Monday through Friday. Let’s help out.

(Olney) Richland Nursing and Rehab at 900 East Scott Street, in Olney, is having a Food Drive this week, through Friday (11/13/2023 – 11/17/2023), with only non-perishable and unexpired food accepted. All food donated will be used to build Thanksgiving Baskets to help those in need.

(Flora) A “Smoked Pork Loin Sale” is this Friday (11/17/2023) and Saturday (11/18/2023) with all the money raised going to the local Guadalupe Project in Clay County, The price is a $30.00 donation per loin, with the two (2) pickup times available at Briscoe’s Surplus Sales, just off of Route 50 in Flora, all day Friday, from 9:00 to 8:00 and Saturday Morning until 12 Noon. The Guadalupe Project helps provide basic essentials to newborn babies and their parents.

(Newton) The Scott Avenue Christian Church will host a Community Thanksgiving Service this Sunday Evening at 6:00pm. That’s at 404 South Scott Avenue in Newton in the Church’s Multi-Purpose Building. It’s free of any charge and all are invited to attend.

(Parkersburg) The Walnut Grove Church, three (3) miles east of Parkersburg, will have it’s Annual Benefit Breakfast this Saturday Morning (11/18/2023) with serving from 6:30 to 10:30 with a great menu available and by donation only. All proceeds are used to help area families in need.
