(EFFINGHAM) The Illinois State Police Troop 9, based in Effingham, has announced that one of the drivers in the April 24th vehicular crash in Effingham County at Moccasin Road and Lake Sara Road, northwest of Effingham, has now been criminally charged. 41 year old Joshua L. Wendt of Mason faces a Class 2 Felony count of aggravated DUI drugs causing death, a count that could result in a sentence of from 3 to 14 years in prison. The wreck resulted in the death of 7-month-old James Austin Warren of Beecher City while the infant was properly buckled into his father’s car. Wendt’s next court appearance is October 2nd.
