(OLNEY) — The Olney Invitational, held yesterday at Richland Golf Club, featured eight high school girls’ golf teams competing for top honors. Mt. Carmel emerged victorious, finishing 19 strokes ahead of second-place St. Anthony with a team score of 150 compared to St. Anthony’s 169.
Effingham and Salem tied for third place, both posting scores of 182, while Fairfield finished fifth with a score of 203. The remaining positions were filled by Robinson (208), Charleston (216), and the host team, the Lady Tigers, who scored 223. Teams from Mattoon and North Clay did not have team scores reported.
In individual results, Blair Powers from Mattoon was the Match Medalist with an impressive low round of 34. Zeme Moore from Mt. Carmel followed closely with a 36. For the host team, Olney, Emma Hefferman recorded the lowest round with a 53, while Savannah Ferguson came in just behind with a 54. Mallory Richardson and Aubrie Weidner rounded out the Lady Tigers’ scores with 57 and 59, respectively.
The Lady Tigers are scheduled to host Edwards County next Monday.
