NATIONAL FARMERS MARKET WEEK IN AMERICA

(SPRINGFIELD) The USDA reports there are 290 officially certified farmers markets in Illinois, ranging from Carbondale to Bloomington and the Chicagoland area, however there are far more smaller farmers markets in most all rural areas of the state. Ag officials say the farmers markets play a vital role in providing access to fresh, locally grown produce and other agricultural products while supporting the health and well-being of communities. This past week has been noted as National Farmers Market Week throughout America.
