NEWTON’S GOLF TEAM TAKES SECOND PLACE IN COMPETITIVE FOUR-TEAM GOLF MATCH

In Boys High School Golf action from Tuesday, Hillsboro emerged victorious in a four-team match. Hillsboro secured the win with a team score of 165, narrowly defeating second-place Newton, which scored 170. The host Indians finished in third place with a score of 199, followed by Pana with a score of 205.

Individually, Hillsboro’s Colton Weiss was the Match Medalist with a round of 37. Newton’s Michael Kennedy finished just one stroke behind in second place with a 38. Newton’s Gunner James tied for third place with a round of 41, while Newton’s Blaine Bergbower tied for seventh place with a score of 44.

Additional strong performances for the Eagles included Wade Wickham with a 45 and Jackson James with a 47. Teammates Grant Fulton shot a 50, and Evan Johnson finished with a 51.

The Eagles are scheduled to compete at the Olney Invitational this Friday.
