OLNEY CITY COUCIL MEETING RECAP (04/23/2024)

(OLNEY) The Olney City Council met last night in regular session. The Council : approved the payment of all bills as presented : approved the FY 2025 City Budget as presented with the City’s new fiscal year beginning May 1st, 2024 : also agreed to designate funds for capital expenditures for the City of Olney : approved the sale of 200 North Lexington Street to Gary Petty for $5,000 : took no action on the sale of 207 North Saratoga Street due to no bids received : approved an ordinance to expand Olney’s Enterprise Zone to include Newton in Jasper County : also approved an Intergovernmental Agreement reflecting the Enterprise Zone expansion : agreed to use $30,000 of leftover grant funds on the City’s East Street Bridge Project : approved the Olney Police Department Retention Agreement whereas $140,000 in state grant funds will be used to retain officers for the next several months at the Olney Police Department : adopted the City of Olney’s $150,000 for the maintenance of streets and highways in FY 2025 : and voted to adjourn after a brief executive session to discuss real property, negotiations, and personnel : the Council’s next meeting is May 13th.
