(OLNEY) The Richland County School Board of Education had a special meeting last night in Olney. The Board : heard from those associated with the proposed Athletic Complex with an overview of the District’s current bonds and the opportunity to refinance – also looked over detailed projections on the proposed athletic fields, regarding an estimated budget, along with options and a timeline : in the meeting’s only action, agreed to expel a student for the remainder of this school year and the first semester of next school year, plus the student will be referred to an alternative school – the student may return on Principal’s Probation the first semester of the 2026-2027 school year if he or she completes 20 hours of approved counseling, passes the hair follicle drug test, and follows all rules while attending an alternative school : also heard from a concerned high school parent concerning the placement of the RCHS Marching Band during Tiger football games : the next regular monthly meeting for the Richland County School Board of Education is September 18th, 2025.
