ST. JOSEPH – ISLAND GROVE CELEBRATING SESQUICENTENNIAL

(ISLAND GROVE) The St. Joseph Church in Island Grove will be celebrating its 150th Year Sesquicentennial this weekend in Jasper County with activities running from Friday night, through the day and night Saturday, and finishing up Sunday morning. All are invited to bring their lawn chairs and enjoy the fellowship and celebration. It all starts at 6:00 Friday evening with the 1999 time capsule resurfacing, with pork burgers, other food, & ice cream stands set up from 6:00 to 9:00, plus a beer stand, live music, and an antique tractor show. Saturday’s activities include a quilt display from 1:00 to 5:00, pork burgers & more from 1:00 to 7:00, the antique tractor show from 1:00 to dusk, a corn hole tournament from 2:00 to 6:00, pedal tractor pull at 3:00, bingo from 3:00 to 5:00, a beard & costume contest at 5:00, a commode race at 7:00, and the beer stand and plenty of live music all afternoon until 11:00 that night. It all wraps up with a Parish Mass at 10:00 Sunday morning & a new time capsule buried at 11:00. That’s all this weekend, the St. Joseph Sesquicentennial in Island Grove.
