(SPRINGFIELD) In yesterday’s USDA Illinois Ag Prices Report for September : the Ag Production Index decreased 5.6% from August and was down nearly a full percentage point (0.9%) from September 2023 : the Crop Production Index was down 1.1% from August and down 13% from the previous year : the Livestock Production Index decreased 7.5% from August, but was up 11% from September last year : producers received lower prices during September for market eggs, cattle, and hogs but higher prices for milk, corn, broilers, and turkeys. In addition to prices, there was decreased monthly movement for cattle, wheat, cotton, and peaches and increased marketing of soybeans, corn, dry beans, and calves.
