USDA SUPPORTING AVIAN INFLUENZA RESEARCH

(SPRINGFIELD) The USDA is offering up to $100 million to support projects on highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) prevention, therapeutics, vaccines, and research as the competitive process is for manufacturers, universities, and other eligible entities. USDA is also expanding the availability of free biosecurity assessments to commercial poultry producers not yet impacted by the avian flu. The changes are part of the agency’s $1 billion, five-pronged strategy, to combat HPAI and resduce nationwide egg production and prices.
