‘WHAT’S HAPPENING’ THIS WEEKEND

(STRINGTOWN) The Stringtown Community Club will host a “Soup Supper” this coming Sunday evening at the St. Joseph Parish Center in Stringtown, with serving time from 4:00 to 6:00. Folks can get a full meal deal for $10.00, which includes choice of soup, a sandwich, with dessert and drink, or items can be purchased separately. The menu includes vegetable beef soup, chicken noodle soup, or chili with free refills, plus hot dogs or grilled cheese sandwiches, pie & ice cream, with tea, lemonade, or coffee. Also a cake walk, basket raffle, and a 50/50 drawing. All are invited this Sunday evening to the Parish Center in Stringtown.

(LOUISVILLE) The Annual Ladies Aid “Chili Supper and Bake Sale” is this coming Sunday evening at the St. John’s Lutheran Church north of Louisville with serving from 4:00 to 7:00. The menu includes chili and vegetable soup, sandwiches, desserts, and drinks, plus carry outs will be available. That’s located on the Effingham/Clay County line north of Louisville. The free will offering for the fundraiser will go for supporting the Ladies Aid Program while bake sale proceeds go to Seminary Student Hunter Kinnison and to support the Hurricane Helene Relief and LCMS Disaster Response effort. All are invited.

(OLNEY) The Richland County Homemakers Education Association will have its Annual Bazaar tomorrow from 9:00 to 2:00 at the Olney City Park Community Building. The free event will feature items for sale from fresh garden produce and freshly baked goodies to hand crafts, White Elephant articles, & various other items. Food-wise, the event begins with breakfast rolls & coffee, followed by lunch with fried chicken and more for $12 per person. Plus the HEA’s main raffle includes over 80 items along with its popular theme basket raffle with tickets on sale at $1 each or get 6 tickets for $5. All are invited.

(DUNDAS) The Dundas Ruritans will have their morning breakfast tomorrow morning from 7:00 to 12:00 noon, including biscuits, gravy, pancakes, sausage, milk, juice, & coffee. Tickets are $7 for adults in advance or a dollar more at $8 at the door tomorrow morning, plus $5 for children under 10 years old. That’s at the Ruritan Building in Dundas.

(OLNEY) The annual squirrel corn “give away” is tomorrow morning in the Olney City Park, starting at 9:00. With a limited supply of ear corn available free of charge to City of Olney residents for the purpose of feeding our local squirrels, folks should bring their own containers. Look for the big red wagon starting at 9:00 tomorrow morning in the City Park.

(SAILOR SPRINGS) The Clay City/Sailor Springs American Legion Post #230 is having its second of two fall “Meat Shoots” tomorrow morning, starting at 10:00, at the post home, just off the Clay City/Dieterich Blacktop, in Sailor Springs. It’s also the Legion’s first-Saturday-of-the-month fundraising breakfast, with serving from 7:00 to 10:00 with all-you-can-eat for a donation at the door. Then lunch will be served at 11:00 featuring fish & sides, plus chili and vegetable soup, all by donation at the door. Then the gun raffle drawing is immediately after the Meat Shoot, at around 12 noon. Remaining tickets with the chance to win any of three guns will be on sale at $10.00 each or get three tickets for $25.00.

(NEWTON) It’s another Queen of Hearts drawing this Friday night at 6:30 at the American Legion Post 20 in Newton, with tickets on sale up until draw time, and a jackpot at $21,065. The Queen’s Menu includes a choice of a prime rib sandwich or catfish nuggets, each with two sides, and each at $13 per person with serving at 5:00.
