(NEWTON) The Christmas Lights in the Park in Newton continue to be lit up each weekend now through January 4th, 2025, in Peterson Park. With dozens of displays set up throughout the park, visitors can follow the signs and drive through Peterson Park from start to finish. (OLNEY) A reminder that Santa Clause will be in Olney for in-person visits this year and all children with their parents or grandparents are encouraged to stop by the Olney City Park Community Building for a visit. (OLNEY) Claws and Paws Rescue in Olney invites everyone to bring their pets this Sunday afternoon from 1:00 to 4:00 at the Olney American Legion for Pet Portraits with Santa. It’s open to all ages with a $10 donation per picture, which will aid Claws & Paws in their work.
(NEWTON) All are invited out this weekend to downtown Newton. The Jasper County Chamber of Commerce is moving the Christmas on the Square to Sunday afternoon through evening, from 2:00 until 7:00 in hopes of avoiding the rain on Saturday. The event will feature plenty of activities, shopping specials, a Christmas Parade, visits with Santa, and much more. Plus the Breakfast with Santa event which will still be held Saturday morning from 7:30 to 10:00 at the St. Thomas Parish Center in Newton. The cost there is only $4.00 per person. The Queen’s Menu tonight includes a brisket sandwich & sides, brisket nachos, pulled pork nachos, and pulled pork sandwiches & sides, all prepared by Mess-N-A Round Barbeque, with serving at 5:00. (OLNEY) The Olney Christmas Lights Display is lit up now each night through New Year’s Eve in the Olney City Park. That’s from 5:00 to 9:00 each Sunday through Thursday night and 5:00 to 10:00 each Friday and Saturday night. Don’t forget, donations are accepted at the end of the display to help with expenses and repairs to the Christmas lights display. A huge “thanks” to the Bucket Brigade volunteers who show up each night.
