“WHAT’S HAPPENING” THIS WEEKEND

(OLNEY) The Olney VFW will have its next Queen of Hearts drawing, all open to the public, at 4:00 this Sunday afternoon. The jackpot is now up to $7,401 if the winner is present and remember, the drawing is live-streamed on the VFW Post page on Facebook. Tickets are on sale right up until draw time at 4:00 Sunday, with the VFW Post doors opening at 1:00.

(OLNEY) The Olney Public Library invites everyone in this Saturday afternoon at 4:00 to meet local young author Lily Jordan as she presents her first book “Make Strawberry Milk with Me.” Area youngsters are especially urged to stop by with their parents to meet Lily.

(NOBLE) The 2024 Noble Homecoming Chowder is this coming Saturday in the Village Park with the serving of chowder and other food starting at 11:00, with a drive thru located on the east side of the Park, bring your containers earlier, but no glass. They’ll also be serving chicken, pork burgers, hot dogs, slaw, baked beans, and desserts. Also entertainment and games, plus the raffle and quilt drawings in the early afternoon. By the way quilt and raffle tickets alike can be purchased at three locations in Noble, at Village Hall, The Tin Cup, or at Noble Foods, six tickets for $5 or one ticket for $1 each. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy. That’s all at the Noble Homecoming Chowder tomorrow at the Village Park in Noble.

(BONE GAP) The annual Bone Gap Chowder is tomorrow starting with tractor pulls at 11:00, inflatables along with burgers, hot dogs, pies, and drinks throughout the day, live afternoon entertainment, and the serving of chowder by the bowl or bulk starting at 4:00.

(NEWTON) It’s another Queen of Hearts drawing this Friday night at 6:30 at the American Legion Post 20 in Newton, with tickets on sale up until draw time, and a jackpot at $13,405. The Queen’s Menu is a visit from the KJ Taco Fiesta Mexican Food Truck with serving to start at 4:00. That’s tonight at 108 East Jourdan Street in Newton.

(OLNEY) The Olney VFW Auxiliary #4226 has another “Taco Night” this Friday night with serving from 5:30 to 7:30, or until sold out with call in orders accepted after 4:00 today at 618-392-4226. Plus a bake sale and 50/50 drawing to benefit the RCHS Cheerleaders.

(CISNE) The annual Cisne Reunion continues tonight with bingo and The Duke Boys on stage followed by a community breakfast tomorrow morning with a one mile fun run, a 5K run, pedal tractor pull, & more. The parade is Saturday at 2:30 with more music that night.

(NEWTON) It’s the final night of the New Beginnings Church in Newton’s “Old Fashion Tent Revival” at the Jasper County Fairgrounds in Newton, starting at 7:00. It features Evangelist Dan Booth and plenty of great music. All are welcome.
