YESTERDAY’S USDA ILLINOIS CROP PROGRESS REPORT

(SPRINGFIELD) In yesterday’s USDA Illinois Crop Progress Report, there were 4.0 days suitable for fieldwork on average around the state last week. The statewide average temperature was 78.2 degrees last week, 4.2 degrees above normal. Illinois’ precipitation averaged 1.76 inches last week, 0.97 inches above normal. As of this past Sunday, corn silking around the state was at 94% (compared to the 5-year average of 93%), corn in the dough stage was at 56% (compared to the 5-year average of 46%), and corn dented was at 4% (compared to the 5-year average of 2%). Soybeans blooming was at 92% (compared to the 5-year average of 84%) and soybeans setting pods was at 77% (compared to the 5- year average of 54%). Both crops statewide are mostly in good to excellent condition with corn at 81% and soybeans at 75%. Farmers are reminded to stay safe while working around the farm.
